Welcome to Health Exploration 101! My name is Heidi Browning and I am starting this blog because I have some health and weight issues of my own that I want to change and I am inviting others to join in on the journey of changing their lifestyles to foster happy and healthy bodies. "If you haven't got your health, you haven't got anything"- 11 Fingered Man from Princess Bride (Love that movie).

Here's a little bit about my story. The specific health issues that I deal with are:
-Irritable Bowel Syndrome
-Depression
-Anxiety
-An unexplained sickness that causes nausea, migraines, mental fogginess, and constant dizziness and light-headedness.

With IBS, there is not much that you can do to prevent episodes and so there's not much that doctors can do for me there. Because of the research that I have personally done into any medications that alter brain chemistry, I refuse to take them because of the immediate and long-term damage that usually results. And with this sickness that developed in November of 2011, there has not been any head-way in figuring out what it is. I started cruising the internet to see if there were any other people experiencing what I was with this unexplained sickness (now being nick-named by me NMDL syndrome). Surprisingly, there were. And even more surprisingly, they were young, like me. Seeing that there were so many individuals that weren't receiving answers, I decided we need motivation and support. I know I do. And since there are no doctors who will successfully be able to help me without pumping drugs into my system to fix the symptoms and not the problem, I have decided to take my health into my own hands as best as possible. We want hope. Hope that we can at least stop these symptoms, even if we never know what the true problem was, that we did all in our power fix it and help our bodies be the healthiest they can be. My hope is to create a network of blogs where everyone can share their trials and successes so that others may be able to find solutions, as well.
Now, I challenge you: Make the decision to help your body become the healthiest it can be and DO IT with others. Whether it's with me or someone else, do it with someone! You'll both benefit from the health changes and the support that will come from doing it together. If you want to make a blog, too, DO IT!
